Basic Maintenance

  • At each fuel stop: Check the engine oil level
  • Once a month: Check tire pressure, tire wear and windshield washer fluid level
  • If Change Oil Soon message displays: change oil within 600 miles

Every 7,500 Miles

At the 7,500 mile mark, it’s time to perform some important Chevy maintenance checks on the Chevy Equinox. When you take it in your Cedartown-area dealer service center, they will rotate tires and perform the following Required Services:

  • Check engine oil level level and oil life percentage
  • Change engine oil and filter if needed
  • Drain diesel fuel filter of water (diesel only)
  • Check engine coolant level
  • Check windshield washer fluid level
  • Inspect windshield wiper blades
  • Check tire pressure and tire wear
  • Visually check for fluid leaks
  • Inspect engine air cleaner filter
  • Inspect brake system
  • Inspect steering, suspension, and chassis for damage
  • Check seat belts
  • Inspect fuel system for damage or leaks
  • Inspect exhaust system and nearby heat shields
  • Lubricate body components
  • Check starter switch
  • Check parking brake and automatic transmission park mechanism
  • Check accelerator pedal for damage, high effort, or binding
  • Inspect gas strut for damage
  • Check tire sealant expiration date (if equipped)
  • Inspect sunroof track and seal (if equipped)

Long-Term Maintenance

Over the long term, if you want your Chevy Equinox to be in top condition on Cedartown roads, you’ll want to take it in for maintenance at the mile markers below.

  • Every 22,500 miles: Replace passenger compartment air filter
  • Every 45,000 miles: Inspect evaporative control system
  • Every 30,000 miles: Replace fuel filter (diesel only) and replace engine air cleaner filter
  • Every 60,000 miles: Replace spark plugs, inspect spark plug wires
  • Every 150,000 miles: Drain and fill engine cooling system, and visually inspect accessory drive belts
  • Every 5 years: Replace brake fluid
