How to Clean Leather Car Seats

Are you wondering, “How to clean leather car seats?” First, you’ll need some supplies- leather cleaner, saddle soap, or for a home-made concoction, mix one-part vinegar with two parts linseed oil. Have a few microfiber towels on hand to rub out dirt and for drying once cleaning is complete. You’ll also need a soft-bristled interior brush. 

Instructions:

  1. Consult your owner’s manual for directions on what products to use for your particular interior.
  2. Vacuum the seats to remove dirt particles and crumbs. Use the smaller attachments to get in between the cracks.
  3. Spray the leather solution onto a microfiber towel and wipe down your seats.
  4. Spray cleaner onto the seats or onto the brush and gently scrub.
  5. Dry your seats with a clean microfiber towel.

How to Clean Fabric Car Seats

Things you’ll need: 

  1. Fabric cleaner. Refrain from using an all-purpose cleaner
  2. Soft or medium bristle brush
  3. Time to allow the fabric to dry before driving.

Instructions:

  1. Vacuum the seats to remove dirt and debris. Use the attachments to remove dirt from the crevices. 
  2. If you own animals, take a lint roller to your seats to get any remaining hair off the seats. 
  3. Open your car windows for ventilation and then spray the fabric cleaner onto the seats. Refrain from saturating the seats to prevent mildew.
  4. Massage the cleaning solution into the seats with a soft brush.
  5. Once suds begin to appear, wipe them out with a clean microfiber towel.
  6. Repeat the process with all your seats.
  7. Vacuum the seats again to accelerate the drying process. Give your seats time to dry before driving again.
